Won’t We Learn?

It seems like everyone cares, but nobody does anything
“That’s because they can’t do anything about it”
Still… we’re denying.
But…
There is light in the deep of every tunnel
So… won’t we learn?
Won’t we learn?
From losses, won’t we learn?
Will we stop until earth burns?
Do we still just wait, wait, wait, wait
Won’t we learn?
I was born to the new age
Where humans seek for more
And we lost respect for nature
Out of sight, out of mind,
And we’re just, denying
Tragedy of the Commons
And corals die…
Learning environmental courses, education is right
But common resources such as air, water and land
Are disregarded by people
they think of “no duty”
cuz problem’s too “little”
they care not of the earth’s beauty
But by waving a magic wand
Where their troubles disappear
And they refuse to take a stand
Truth is: it’s a moral we all share.
The ocean is calling
Our acts it deeply deplores
She screams our name.
But we just ignore
Won’t we learn,
Begging for time, won’t we learn
Take action, now’s your turn
Why do we still just wait, wait, wait, wait
Won’t we learn?
Think bout all the small life forms,
Where they are, trashed to death
We still think it’s a distant problem, problem
We’re leaving it to the future
Fear and guilt withdraw action
But now that
The world’s fate is in our hands
So act now!
There’s so much denial
About climate change
Ever since human’s arrival
It surpassed the earth’s range.
Carbon levels in the air
High melting ice caps
Frequent wildfire’s flare
Happening like a time lapse
Witnessed,
the rising sea
And carbon, sulphur, nitrous oxide
Deforested tree
More tech and urban sprawl
But we still demanded more
But the Kyoto protocol
Opened “hope’s” little door
More eco-friendly cars,
And less cows for methane
Will help mend the earth’s scars
Along with support for campaigns
Move past the age of carbon
Act less like individuals
And learn from our mistakes
We can’t just turn away
Remember the “ozone hole”
CFCs now banned
But we need more active roles
Can you give us a hand?
The earth’s our home,
Can we work to save our home?
While all the dangers known
And still we turned away, way, way
Won’t we learn,
Begging for time, won’t we learn
Take action, now’s your turn
Why do we still just wait, wait, wait, wait
Won’t we learn?
“It’s crazy, stories have happy endings, we need one too.”
We start by learning.
So, why do we stay in the shadows?
When we can make a change?

I made this original song because I wanted to inspire people to take action rather than simply waiting on change. Currently humans believe climate change to be a distant problem and not have immediate effects. However, that is not the case. My grandparents were in the agricultural sector, and due to technological advancements and climate change, crops and fresh water supply were impacted. During my filiming process, as I filmed areas near my school by the coast, I realized the ubiquitous presence of nature along with the changing sea levels near coastal regions. Through research, I also recognized that small actions such as reduced consumption of beef and promotion of public transits can make a big difference. It is true that individual actions can be influential, but we have to work together as a whole. The world is united, and we can fight climate change and create a happy ending together.
