Thinking About Climate Change: Art, Science and Imagination in the 21st Century is a research conference that considers the impact of collaboration between the arts, humanities and sciences on the global understanding of climate change. Within wider cultural contexts, artistic and scientific practices are engaged in power politics through historical, contextual, institutional and discursive formations. This conference explores interdisciplinary connections, shared foundations, tensions between individual relationships and institutional structures, with a focus on fostering exploration, awareness, education, and actionable solutions. It also aims to inspire researchers and artists to direct their passion and skills towards meaningful efforts, both individual and collaborative, to stem global heating and for sustainable development within planetary boundaries.
The conference will take place in Boston on the University of Massachusetts Boston campus and aims to create an atmosphere for engaged dialogue through plenary sessions, panels, screenings, events and artistic exhibitions.
