Summer in the Sea

Welcome to summer, come look at our beach!
Relax, sit down, and just lift up your feet.
Look at all the crabs, jellyfish, and more,
Don´t forget the coral reefs washing up on the shore.
Look! Some hermit crabs appear,
Wearing a plastic bottle cap, right on his rear.
A seagull flies across the sky!
A six-pack ring strapped to him, just like a tie.
See some turtles swim across the sea,
Simultaneously choking on plastic debris.
Can you see the fish swimming down beneath?
Looking for a home after we destroyed all of their reefs.
Well, does that really matter? No, it really does not.
Because we can just swim in our ocean that’s hot.
Like really hot. Like glaciers are melting hot.
But it is our fault, or have we forgot?
Our ocean is in ruins and we are to blame,
We need to take action and protect our glaciers so our sea can stay the same.
Reflection
While creating my project, I felt sad because of the state of our ocean right now. The message of my poem is to show how we need to save the sea because pollution and climate change are impacting the animals and life in the sea.
