Climate Hero: Nina Gbor, Eco Styles
Reflection

My piece was inspired by my climate change hero, Nina Gbor, who is trying to make a greener and more eco-friendly fashion industry. Fashion is an extremely polluting industry because of its manufacturing process, the rate at which people are buying new clothes, and the damage of used clothes waste on the environment. I conveyed this in my artwork by painting a massive pile of clothes, similar to how many landfills look as a result of fast fashion. Nina Gbor combines her love for fashion and the earth by empowering others to find their own personal style to help end fast fashion trends that are so damaging to the climate. I painted Nina, in one of her own beautiful and sustainable outfits, in front of the globe to show how she is a stylish advocate for the earth. Nina Gbor’s efforts, along with the efforts of other climate change heroes, myself, and other individuals make me feel hopeful about the future of our planet. It will be a long and difficult road to sustainability but I believe it is possible. The Earth is changing, but so can we.
