Climate Hero: Sneha Shahi

Reflection
Reflection

During my research, I resonated with Ms. Sneha Shahi's activities and her avid efforts to conserve the water bodies close to her. This aided me to push forth and participate in spreading awareness as well as I could. I have always been passionate about dance, and being able to use my talents and experience with kathak to articulate such an impactful message was an opportunity to hone my creative abilities. The creative process allowed me to understand and learn more deeply about the real issues with water conservation as well as the true consequences of climate change and pollution. Post my extensive research, it was clear to me that we all need to step up together as a community to bring about a change. Innumerous small steps add up to a sizeable distance. My one takeaway would be not to neglect the environment around us but together, provide for it as it does for us. The dance expresses the pain we have caused to our rivers and the necessity to conserve them, in this time and age. I have used kathak to embody our Indian culture, which is also reflected in the conservation of our holy rivers. The piece aims to bring awareness about the work of this climate hero and the grave situations that our rivers face today. The purpose is to render a call for action to save our water bodies in India and across the world. Learning about Ms. Sneha Shahi made me understand the value of playing our part in this struggle for a greater surrounding. With such determined youth at the forefront of climate activism, I have confidence that our world can take a turn for the better and regain its natural glory. It truly inspires me to play a part in securing a cleaner and greener future for myself and my generation.
