Climate Hero: Miranda Wang, Novoloop
Reflection
My short film explores a thought that everyone has had before: “I can’t make a big impact in this situation.” With devastating problems like climate change and pollution consuming our planet, it would only be natural to feel weak and insignificant. We doubt our ability to help when met with a crisis and end up running away. Even learning about heroes who made great solutions for our earth can lead us to feel useless. I wanted to show these emotions in the first scene of my film. A teen girl scrolls through social media and is bombarded with information about how our planet is falling apart. Even when wanting to help, her self-doubt takes over. In the middle of my film, I wanted to talk about Miranda Wang, a woman who was able to make a huge breakthrough with her inventions. Through planning and filming for this competition, I learned to never doubt myself. Everyone has potential to do something great. I hope my film inspires anyone who comes across it and makes them truly believe that they are capable of great things too.
