About the Presenting Council Members:
Jasmine Rodman is a high school student from Vancouver Island, Canada, and lives surrounded by the deep waters of the Pacific Ocean. She’s passionate about art and science, and bringing the two together to educate and inspire. As an artist and entrepreneur, she created her own sustainable business to share her love of the ocean with the world. Through Ocean Child Creative, she creates art based on local marine life and uses creativity as a tool for conservation. In addition to being a member of Bow Seat’s Future Blue Youth Council, she is involved with numerous local ocean conservation and advocacy initiatives.

Sarah Ahmed is a community mobilizer that strives to take advantage of every opportunity to make the world a better place. She is very passionate about social and environmental activism, which derives from her motivated and driven personality. She is always looking for opportunities to grow, challenge herself, and make a difference. Sarah is also an alumna of the Greenhouse Youth Innovation Program, where she wrote and illustrated a book that educates children about the stigma surrounding people with disabilities. She serves the Multi-Action Council at her school as a Committee Chair, and is the co-founder of Muslim Artists for Justice.

E Wen Wong is a first-year law and science student based in Christchurch, New Zealand. As the founder of P.S. Our Beaches (Plastic Solution for Our Beaches), E Wen coordinates the EnviroPAST conference, science communication initiatives, and environmental poetry projects, alongside beach clean-ups and tree plantings for youth. Through her connection with Bow Seat, E Wen has formed a strong interest in the intersection between art and science.

About Our Featured Speakers:
Catarina Lorenzo is a 14-year-old global activist and surfer originally from Salvador, Bahia, Brazil! She is part of the petition children.vs.climate crisis and spoke at the UN with 15 children from all over the world. She is also part of the collective S.O.S Vale Encantado, Heirs to Our Oceans, Green Kingdom, and was a Young Eco Women 2020 Ambassador. She spoke at the opening of Ocean Decade, at the brave new ocean event and is a High Seas youth ambassador. Recently, she has been developing a project called Eco Club Sustentare, which will focus on environmental education and sustainability.

Shay Muñoz is a high school junior from the San Francisco Bay Area who has been a member of the Heirs to Our Oceans Pescadero chapter for three years, working on many projects including cleanups, presentations and community outreach, and initiatives to reduce single-use plastic in her school and community. She has attended multiple H2OO SEALs (Summit for Empowerment, Action and Leadership) and has been a part of the RAISE (Regenerative Agriculture and Indigenous Systems for Our Environment) initiative for two years where they are currently working on a comprehensive research paper about regenerative agriculture reviewed by scientists, farmers, and indigenous leaders.

Fifteen-year-old Dakota Peebler, an independent learner in the San Francisco Bay Area, started a global movement with her sibling Charley and family in May 2016. They formed the nonprofit Heirs To Our Oceans (H2OO), which is committed to empowering, educating and connecting all youth around the protection of the ocean and waterways, and climate action for the next generation and future generations to come.
