David Abel
An award-winning reporter on the Boston Globe staff since 1999, David Abel has covered war in the Balkans, unrest in Latin America, national security issues in Washington D.C., terrorism in New York and Boston, and climate change and poverty in New England.
David, also a documentary filmmaker and an occasional professor of journalism, was part of the team that won the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News for the paper’s coverage of the Boston Marathon bombings. He now covers the environment for the Globe.
Moira Brown
Dr. Moira Brown is a right whale scientist at the Canadian Whale Institute (Campobello Island, NB). Her conservation work is focused on right whales and working with mariners to address vessel strike and fishing gear entanglement threats in Canadian habitat areas. She is also a member of the Campobello Whale Rescue Team.
Tripp Clemens
Tripp is passionate about entrepreneurship, impact, and service. He is the co-founder of Windy Films, a production agency in Boston and New York focused on stories of social impact and positive change, servicing mission-driven clients like Conservation Law Foundation, Planned Parenthood, and My Life My Choice. He is also the co-founder and former director of the Emerson Launch program for entrepreneurship at Emerson College, and a guest documentary film teacher with Parachute Teachers at the McKay Elementary School in East Boston.
Brian Skerry
Brian Skerry is a photojournalist specializing in marine wildlife and underwater environments. Since 1998, he has been a contract photographer for National Geographic Magazine, covering a wide range of subjects and stories from the harp seal’s struggle to survive in frozen waters to the alarming decrease in the world’s fisheries to dolphin intelligence, all cover stories. Brian is the Explorer-In-Residence and a Trustee at the New England Aquarium, a founding member of the International League of Conservation Photographers, Director of The New England Ocean Odyssey for The Conservation Law Foundation, and a Fellow National of The Explorers Club.
