Reflection
In my artwork, Karlie Kloss is depicted as a powerful goddess, who is saving fish from an oil polluted sea. The fish in the artwork are shown in various sizes and colors, all swimming towards Karlie's outstretched hand, seeking refuge and safety from the toxic environment around them. As a climate activist and advocate for sustainable fashion, Karlie Kloss is a fitting choice for my artwork. She is an active vocal supporter of initiatives that promote sustainability and environmentalism. Karlie's nonprofit organization Kode with Klossy has a strong connection to ocean awareness by promoting technological innovation for reducing ocean pollution and improving sustainability in the fishing industry. Karlie's advocacy for eco-friendly fashion also relates to ocean awareness, as the fashion industry is a major contributor to ocean pollution. The oil pollution in the sea is represented by dark, murky colors, with streaks of black and grey mixing with the blue waters. The contrast between the polluted environment and Karlie's bright, shining figure serves to emphasize her status as a climate hero, who is able to bring light and hope to even the darkest of situations. As an artist, I wanted to create a sense of urgency in my artwork, to emphasize the importance of taking action to protect our oceans and the life that inhabits them. By depicting Karlie as a hero who is actively saving fish from harm, I hope to inspire viewers to become climate heroes themselves, and take action to protect our planet and all the living things that call it home.
