The topic for my video is plastic in the ocean. I was drawn to choosing this topic as a result of a personal experience. It all started when I went with my science class to the clean water celebration in Peoria, Illinois. One class at this event stood out to me among the rest. The whole class’s purpose was to explain plastic’s poor characteristics. We learned how animals were dying because of our carelessness and negligence. The teacher told us all about the animals that were suffering. He even showed us a picture of a turtle eating a plastic bag. This struck a nerve with me and I vowed to never pollute the water with plastic. But as one person I could only do so much. A substantial amount of plastic was still being thrown into the ocean and a significant number of animals were continuing to die. I decided I would have to take a bigger step. This is where my solution comes into play. Although my solution is very simple, it is also very effective. Our waters will be clean again if we can convince not only the current generation but also the future generations. In my video I said that plastic can be a floating minefield for marine animals. Well, I believe if we can come together and put my solution into action, this minefield can be diffused. Animals can once again move in the waters without any worry.
