This piece created in Photoshop with the painting tools is called “Bottled Ocean” because by polluting the ocean with plastic, we are essentially turning it into plastic and incorporating those substances into all the parts of the food web, from plankton to larger birds and mammals. The Earth’s ocean is a rare phenomenon of nature (compared to the other planets around us that cannot support such a system), which is why most of the water bottles in the image are empty. Despite the wonder of our ocean, many don’t think twice about throwing plastic around for it to get collected by the waves and ultimately concentrate in an area where it is hazardous to marine life. It is our job only to fix this and make it so that our water bottle can once again have fresh, clean water.
