Reflection
Our names are Chloe and Sophie and we are freshmen at Catherine McAuley High School. We chose to do a video that displays the harmful effects of plastics through the honest opinion’s of 1st graders. We were spending the day in Chloe’s mother’s classroom, and it was “grounds day”, so they were picking up garbage around their playground. They later had a discussion about what they found. We noticed in the bags it mostly contained plastics, so when their discussion started, we decided to film it. We wanted to get the perspective of those who don’t have preconceived opinions or who have taken on the opinion of another. Who better than a 1st grade child? We also included images and clips from our own personal belongings. We only have to go as far as our own homes to demonstrate how much plastic is an enormous part of our lives. Our video shows that no matter who you are, we all have enough knowledge to be able to do our part to help keep plastic out of the ocean.
