Reflection

The main inspiration for this drawing was my dread of rising water levels. As a teenager, I feel insecure about what the world will look like in 20 years. I keep wondering: what if my hometown submerges? Will humans still have a future? I thought that perhaps creating a piece of artwork with my head representing the warming planet earth would help people sympathize with where I am coming from. Perhaps they will take actions to save the future of my generation. I had a feeling of urgency that prevailed when I drew this piece. I hope that this will eventually make people reflect upon the consequences of rising water levels, which is why this piece is called “awaken.” As a proponent for the climate change movement, I will take small steps to combat this challenge, such as picking up garbage from nearby beaches to prevent it from going into the ocean. Although such actions may seem insignificant, they can still make a positive impact in our world.
