I came up with the idea when I was looking at the fourth category, Healthy Environments, Healthy Humans. When I saw “spending time in nature” and “exposure to sunlight”, I immediately thought of the beach and spending time there with my friends. So, I decided to make the woman in my drawing spend time in the ocean and at beaches with her best friend, making memories. To show that nature made her happier, I included a small section of what her work life was like: stressed and burnt out. My inspiration was the memories I have of my friends and I at the beach, whether it was last summer or years ago. I have also watched many videos about how work life in the present day is being overworked and stressed all the time. This is what inspired me to put the contrast between work and vacation, showing how taking a break can really benefit your mental and physical health. I chose to use Prismacolor because I have worked with them a lot and have improved my technique over the years. I always feel at ease when I use colored pencils because I can always add intricate details with the sharp tip and the shading process is always smooth. My message for the viewers of this artwork is that if you ever feel stressed or unhappy, you should always find something that cheers you up or calms you down.
