Climate change has always been an issue about which I care deeply. This song is meant to inspire others to make a change in our lifestyle routines and policies—hence, change the “game” of climate change. As a 13-year-old, I want to make a positive difference in the world, especially the natural environment, so that future generations will enjoy the land and ocean I explored at a very young age. The harmful effects of climate change are serious and scientifically known, which then makes me disappointed and determined to act when I hear adult political arguments questioning the reality of climate change. I want this song to go beyond Bow Seat and into the global community because climate change is a problem that needs everyone’s attention. This song is meant to be both catchy and wistful because I want the lyrics to stick in people’s minds, and I want the mood of the song to urge action for our Earth. My family takes climate change and reducing our carbon footprint seriously. In my house we compost food leftovers, do not have a TV, use glass containers instead of plastic, recycle materials, and use public transportation to get around New York City. There is more for us to do, and this song is to encourage all of us to take a stand and solve a human-made issue. My song is a pathway—a game changer—for consuming only what we need and protecting our planet for future generations. This song supports a movement all of us must follow to replenish the Earth as we had before we abused our natural resources.
