Clean Up

Reflection
The early months of 2021, my area in Texas was hit with a snow storm with surprisingly freezing temperatures. The chilling cold and the snow brought power outages and in some cases, no water either. The cold temperatures and the power outages caused our our pipes to burst. We hadn’t even realized it until I stepped barefoot in the few inches of ice water. Luckily, two people outside rushed to help us. As a team, we worked throughout the night to push out the water and to dry up the floors. I had never witnessed the effects of climate change firsthand. My artwork incorporates both my experience and my hope for the future. The dark polluted water in the background is soaked up by the towel and is turned into clean water with the help of humans. This shows how if humans take the right actions, such as picking up litter or choosing more sustainable products, we can clean up our mistakes. Through teamwork and perseverance, I believe there is hope for the future of our Earth.
