Reflection
I got the idea for my piece by imagining a child sleeping and surrounded by different parts of nature like mountains, forests, flowers, and water. I wanted to show the coexistence of different elements of nature and how it can be comforting like a blanket. I was inspired by how calm and peaceful I feel when I’m in nature how it makes me feel better when i’m stressed and need a breath of fresh air. I also included the baby as my center piece of because it is a symbol of wonder. I used colored pencils because I enjoy using them to show texture and color. Ive always been most familiar with color pencils from my youngest to current self and having more experience with color pencils allows me to express my art better without having to worry about messing up a technique. Working on this made me feel calm and focused. My message is that nature can be part of who we are, and it can help us feel safe, inspired, and creative.
