Reflection

Picture a mother who loves her son dearly, more than anything in the world. During his childhood, she spoils him, fulfilling his every need and desire. But as he grows older, he makes some mistakes, does some bad things, and hurts people in the process. Nevertheless, the mother's love never dies. Despite her disappointment, she clings to the hope that the future will be different. This is the tone that I tried to convey when I wrote "Dear Humanity"—a tone of nostalgia, sadness, and hope. It takes the perspective of Mother Earth as if she were speaking to us, her children. I decided to focus on the effects of climate change on coastal communities, emphasizing how people are negatively impacted by floods, hurricanes, and food shortages. Throughout the video, I supplemented the song with facts and indicators of climate change to inform the audience about the real-world consequences of climate change.
