Reflection
The city of Bengaluru, once known as the city of lakes and gardens is facing a severe water crisis. Rapid urbanization, our unsustainable practices and climate change has bought mother Earth to this drought. Resonating with the deep consequences of this water crisis, we were inspired to raise awareness of this pain faced by our Earth and choreograph this piece that evokes the emotions. Dance helps us to display emotions that at times, can not be expressed in words. We picked 4 of the 8 indian Classical dance forms each showcasing a different essence; Odissi and Kuchipudi, with their contrasting methods of storytelling, Kathak, with its fast movements showcasing the urgency of the situation today and Manipuri, with its feminine aspect or "Lasya" showcasing the grief of the Mother Earth provide a 360 view to the current scenario. At the end of the piece, we show how unity should be celebrated in this diversity and working together can help yield solutions to the problems of today.
