As the famous quote claims, "a picture can say a thousand words." What better way to convey the devastating reality of our oceans and marine life than through art? One of the most impacted regions of climate change is the Great Barrier Reef, with corals bleached and fish endangered due to our actions. Home to the largest coral system, this place is at the brink of losing itself. So, I truly wanted to capture this "Emergency" with a before/after visual of ocean life in the Great Barrier Reef: how life should exist but how it currently is. As a digital media enthusiast, I wanted to represent each pixel as an individual. There are dynamic ones, those who are ready to make change and growth. However, if no one starts, we will all end up grey, bleak, and miserable without our oceans. We must take care of our oceans as our ocean has taken care of us. As we continue to neglect our carbon footprint and deforestation effects, I hope this art piece reminds all to keep in mind of the future and create a positive difference. As soon as we stop waiting and act instead, significant change will happen, and the presence of future will be present!
