Climate Hero: Fatou Jeng, Clean Earth Gambia
In lands where the sun shines bright,
There lives a soul, a radiant light.
Her name is Fatou Jeng, a force so grand,
A guardian of nature, with caring hands.
Amidst the chaos, she stands tall,
A champion for the Earth, she hears its call.
With passion and purpose, her heart aligned,
To save our planet, her mission was defined.
In the bustling city, where concrete thrives,
Fatou whispers to the bees and hives.
She tends to gardens, where life takes root,
Planting hope, where pollution took its loot.
With every seed she gently sows,
A forest of change, blossoms and grows.
From lush green fields to arid terrain,
Her touch revives, heals the land again.
She guides the youth, inspiring their minds,
Kindling a fire, where compassion finds.
Through workshops and lessons, she imparts,
The knowledge of preservation and eco-arts.
Fatou’s voice echoes, her words resound,
As she addresses leaders, the world around.
With facility and courage, she takes her stand,
Urging for action, a united hand.
In boardrooms and conferences, her presence strong,
She advocates fiercely, against all wrongs.
For cleaner energy and sustainable ways,
To mend the damage of our reckless days.
Through her actions, a ripple takes flight,
A wave of awareness, shining so bright.
She fights for justice, for every creature,
For a world where harmony becomes a feature.
Oh, Fatou Jeng, a beacon of hope,
Your efforts inspire, like a kaleidoscope.
May your spirit guide us, in this crucial fight,
To heal our planet, and make things right.
For in your mission, we find a key,
To forge a future, where all species are free.
With gratitude, we honor your sublime art,
As you lead the charge, saving our fragile Earth’s heart.
Reflection
I was inspired by the climate activist Fatou Jeng and her work on our planet. She’s also the founder of Clean Earth Gambia. The message of my writing is that everyone has something to protect, like your friend. Nature and the climate are everyone's friends, too, and I wanted to convey that message. When we do research about the ocean and climate, we can see that humans are not only putting nature in danger, but we are also putting other living creatures in danger, too. Climate heroes help our future and our future generations because they are working for the climate, and fighting for the climate's independence.
