Reflection
This artwork explores the deep connection between nature, identity, and our origins. The flowing water, blooming lotus flowers, and flying crane symbolize how land and the natural world have shaped our ancestors’ history and values. In the past, nature was a vital part of daily life—rivers gave life, mountains offered protection, and the sky felt close. Even though our world has changed, these connections still influence how we see and relate to nature today. In the picture, the person is suspended between calm and chaos. This captures the feeling of being caught between worlds—between the past and the present, between nature and modern life. The colorful waves suggest movement and change. The lotus flowers emerging from the dark water symbolize strength and renewal, while the crane represents guidance and hope. As I’ve grown up, I’ve sometimes felt distant from nature. But creating this piece helped me realize how essential it is to reconnect—with the Earth and with my roots. I believe strongly that we should see ourselves as part of nature, not above it. This artwork is my way of remembering, healing, and imagining a better relationship with the world around us. I chose digital painting as my medium because of the flexibility it offers in capturing both fluidity and precision. I created this piece using Procreate, which allowed me to blend organic shapes and vivid colors in a way that reflects the dynamic, ever-changing relationship between humans and nature. I have been working with digital painting since high school, and this medium allows me to translate my ideas quickly and intuitively, while also giving me the ability to refine and perfect the details.
