Reflection

When considering the theme of “my climate change story,” I reflected on my personal role in global warming. My generation grew up with something no other generation possessed in their childhoods: electronics. Screens have been an addiction amongst my generation and influence every portion of our lives. By growing so attached to an artificial online world, I often forget about the real natural Earth around me. Accounting for my fixation on this digital landscape, such as social media, I realized that constant scrolling lessens the effectiveness of climate change warnings. Through my short PSA film, “Global Warning,” I aimed to target my generation, urging them to notice the world off their screens and take warnings about climate change seriously. During the process of writing, directing, and filming “Global Warning,” I was overtaken with guilt, as I have consumed media about global warming, but never physically or verbally taken action against the climate crisis. However, inspired by my climate change story, I hope to create more PSAs and short films warning others about the climate crisis and conveying heartfelt messages that shift viewers’ mindsets.
