Reflection

My artwork pays tribute to the indigenous leader and climate hero Caroline Cannon. Through this piece, I sought to capture the essence of Caroline’s remarkable efforts to protect the environment and shed light on the interconnectedness between human actions and the delicate balance of nature. Having visited the sea and witnessed the haunting sight of bleached corals veiled in white, I suddenly realized that the sea was dying at an alarming rate. Deeply concerned, I looked for news or documentaries about marine protection and discovered Caroline's sheer impact on environmental conservation. As I read about the Ocean Awareness Contest theme, I learned that our individual choices and collective efforts profoundly impact the well-being and longevity of marine ecosystems. For me, Coraline Cannon's story exemplifies the power of one person’s determination to make a difference, and bringing this story to life has taught me that everyone really can be a climate hero in their own unique way.
