Reflection

When I started to research plastic pollution, I was horrified by how big of an impact it truly had in our world, not only affecting marine life but also our livelihoods. I then came across Lefteris Arapakis in the Washington Post and was inspired by his story of how plastic pollution was practically overlooked by everyone. He co-founded the organization Enaleia to share his vision of creating a sustainable ocean environment. Through my artwork, I wanted to showcase how heroes such as Arapakis could take the first steps and lead the way through the darkness by taking action and inspiring others. His endeavors encouraged and motivated me to increase ocean awareness and share his journey of reducing and hopefully ending plastic pollution.
