Reflection

In this piece, I comment on the current consumerism mindset and its impact on our environment. It is ironic how the modern mall is established within a pre-existing temple in the middle of a jungle. It portrays how consumerism has infiltrated every inch of the Earth as people sought to exploit its resources. After conducting research, I learned that “45 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions comes solely from the production of the things we use and buy every day.” One way to combat climate change would be to reject the current consumerism mindset and switch to a more sustainable lifestyle. I believe that if we can learn from our ancestors, who were able to live in harmony with the environment, we can lessen our negative impact on the Earth and make it a better place to live for us and all the living things that share this planet with us.
