Not Too Late

[Intro]
[Verse 1]
You used to lie beneath my trees
Talked to stars and whispered peace
The gentle breeze moved through your skin
So calm like you and me
[Chorus 1]
I used to think you would befriend me the whole time like now and then
I used to think we help each other out
But then I realized you lied to me, betrayed me, you’ve broken me
You caused climate change, extinctions, disasters
[Interlude]
[Verse 2]
Hey Earth it’s been a while
Saw that skies have lost their blue
Took too much and gave to few
Dear Earth, could you forgive me?
[Chorus 2]
I used to think that everything was for granted right from the start
But I kept taking more and broke it apart
One day I realized the weight of the damage that I had done
I apologize and I just want to make things right
[Bridge]
Prevent pollution make the oceans clean again
Less brutal floods, storms, forest fires be my aim
The ice is melting fast it’s worsening everyday
No more excuses we’ll take action right away
[Chorus 3]
My childhood memories by the shoreline have all been washed up and gone
Ocean’s rising, there’s nowhere to hide
But if we act as one, we still can change ourselves and find our way
The future’s ours, it’s time to heal the Earth
[Outro]
Reflection
In a world like this, things are starting to get not so well. As human beings who live on the planet Earth, we are responsible for taking care of it. However, there has been growing damage– from natural disasters to human-caused pollution. Because of this, I made a song describing how the relationship of Earth to humans is broken and that it's not too late to fix this with combined POVs from both Earth and people. This song was inspired by Gracie Abrams and Taylor Swift, two of my favorite singers who play guitar. Intrigued by the way of the style of their songs, especially the way they write their bridges, I really wanted my song to be like that too. Through the theme “Connections to Nature: Looking Inside, Going Outside”, I learned that it’s really important to reflect on how our actions affect the environment, and that we all have a role to take care of Earth. I hope that it could be an invitation for people to join together and conserve Earth. Remember, it’s not too late to save Earth, and we should use this chance to take action.
