The purpose of my artwork is to raise awareness of rising water levels and pollution of marine environments. There are five panels. Each panel from left to right represents a past, present, or future reference of our sea level increase and the pollution that finds its way into our marine life. As a focal point of each panel, I have endangered or near endangered animals such as the loggerhead turtle, tiger shark, Pacific bluefin tuna, and a blue whale. Water level in each panel increases as our planet ages. I was saddened greatly by some of the predictions on what is going to happen to our oceans in the future, and that inspired me to create this piece of art. Rising sea levels pose a serious threat to coastal life around the world. They cause increasingly intense storm surges, flooding, and damage to coastal areas. Eventually there won’t be land for us. We need to start reducing our carbon footprint now and protect what we have on this planet.
