Seekers of Dreamland

Reflection

Three months ago, I was inspired to create this artwork by the Chinese children’s tale— “Frog in the well”. With a teaching of to look beyond limited perspectives and have courage to venture beyond our comfort zone, I combined this tale’s morals with our current problem—pollution and climate change. People should seek solutions and broaden our horizons, to achieve a better world. My artwork tells an important story about how pollution affects our planet and the animals living on it. At the center, a bright green frog sits in a deep well, representing all the animals that want a cleaner, safer place to live. The warm yellow light shining down symbolizes hope, showing that there is still a chance for a better future. The sky above the well is inspired by the dreamy art style of Salvador Dali, creating a vision of a 'Dreamland' we all want to achieve. This beautiful sky stands in sharp contrast to the murky purple water below, which shows the reality of polluted habitats that harm wildlife. The warm yellow light above symbolizes hope and the possibility of change, inspiring the frog to seek a larger reality—a better reality. Hidden among the roots are the skeletons of animals; lives lost because of pollution. The tree shaped like a human hand reminds us that it’s up to us to make a difference and take care of our environment. Through this artwork, I aim to convey a message of awareness and responsibility, encouraging more people to look beyond their limited perspectives and act against pollution and climate change. If we take action now, I believe, when the frog finally ventures out of the well, it will discover a future world filled with beauty and potential, achieving our dreams we have for a healthier planet.
