When doing research on ocean pollution, I had a small understanding on this issue. When I saw images through the internet, I quickly realized how big of a problem this really is. I wanted to further my understanding on how this happens, how this affects marine life, and how to avert this from occurring. You think I would know this before doing this project, since I did grow up near the beach. At a young age, I didn’t realize so much on my surroundings and the fact that the trash near the beach would sooner or later get into the ocean. “Many changes in the way we live could make the biggest differences on a global level as well as small steps you can take at home to save our oceans.”
Let’s be real, we all have used plastic water bottles or plastic bags at some point. These plastics contribute to kill thousands of marine animals every year. My artwork represents marine animals being affected by plastics in our oceans. I added a boat a fishing pole to represent that we add more contribution by decreasing the population of fishes. “When shopping or dinning out, help reduce the demand for overexploited species by choosing seafood that is both helpful and sustainable.”
