Reflection

Humans largely depend on fossil fuels for energy, thereby producing large amount of carbon exhausts in the process. Greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide are created, and such gases act as an insulant in the Earth's atmosphere, causing global warming and climate change. Global warming and climate change affect nature such as the ocean, polar regions, and continents, which accordingly affects the humans living in the environment. I recognized and tried to show the cycle of the environment being affected by human activity, which then affects the humans. I thought that one of the most serious consequences of global warming and climate change is rising sea level. Island nations or cities sinking is an infamous consequence of rising sea level. With continuous rise in sea level, not only islands but also continents may face impacts. For example, many scientists predict that large portion of America would be submerged underwater by 2050. To express such environmental threats, I drew buildings submerged in water at the lowest part of the work. I laid out the work to represent that the human activity of using carbon affects the natural environment due to sea level rising from heavy rainfall and melting icebergs, which then affects the human environment. By doing so, I aimed to raise awareness of the fact that human activity which harms the natural environment ultimately harms the human environment.
