The Future of Endangered Animals
Lily Ogburn
Liberty Township, OH
2020, Senior, Interactive & Multimedia

Project Description: I created a social media page used to educate and raise awareness for the cause of severely endangered animals. I first created a TikTok page because it incorporates music and reaches a very large youth fan base. I then began creating drawings daily of animals in need of us to bring them hope for the future. Each day I would get many comments, likes, and new followers of dedicated people that wanted to help in raising awareness. This was an interactive multimedia project because I incorporated art, music, and film while providing a platform where I could interact with my followers and people that I had brought endangered animals to the attention of. I named my account speakingforthesilent because I wanted to spread awareness for the animals that cannot speak for themselves.

@speakingforthesilentThank you to everyone who’s been here since the beginning😌A look through the last few months. ##foryou♬ A Thousand Years – Krishs

Reflection
Reflection

This year, I was inspired by the incredible young people around the world who are fighting so hard to find hope in times of environmental darkness. I wanted to be able to further spread awareness about endangered animals and maybe even provoke others to want to help too. I wanted to draw these animals and be able to connect music and film to my drawings to show that we are the hope and we are the future of these animals. I’ve learned so much throughout this process, but the biggest thing for me is that even though the task of changing our world may be daunting, it is possible with hope. All of my followers and supporters give me hope. The people who would email me and ask them to draw their favorite endangered animal give me hope. These animals give me hope. The thought of a future full of life and saved animals gives me hope. And now that I’ve learned all of this, I am more encouraged to continue to draw and spread awareness on social media and hopefully inspire more people to fight for our planet.
