Climate Hero: Benjamin Von Wong

Project Description: The goal is to collect as many of the straws in each level as possible before going to the flag and reaching the next level. If you fall into the water, you restart on the same level and you must reach the flag. Once you finish all five levels, you then see a hand-drawn version of one of the pieces Benjamin Von Wong has made with the help of others. It ends with some real facts about how Benjamin and many others collected 168,000 straws from all across Vietnam to help collect straws. The game ends with thanking you for playing, and tells you that you can help raise awareness of climate change too.

An animated character with black hair and a black jacket asks, "Hey... Could you help me collect straws?" A "Next" button is on the right. Pixelated video game scene with a character standing on floating platforms made of yellow bricks, surrounded by a blue sky and clouds. A red flag marks a goal on a distant platform.Person walking through a colorful tunnel holding a paint bucket, with the text "You helped create art!" above and a "Next" button in the center.

Reflection
Reflection

Sometimes, it's easy to feel powerless about big topics like climate change especially when you're an ordinary person. I've felt that too, and often wondered how I could possibly help. But then after researching about different climate heroes like Benjamin Von Wong, I realized that you don't have to be famous or rich to make a difference. If you just be yourself, and help spread awareness about climate change through what you love doing, you can make a difference too. Posting tips on social media, making a poem to tell to others, or even just picking up a straw can make all the difference in the world. Every small act is a closer step to a better future.
