Reflection

This artwork was inspired by the digital artist Mr. Misang. I like how he uses an ironic and exaggerated art style to reflect on reality. What motivated me to investigate climate change was the extreme weather we all experienced in the Summer of last year. Many people got sick and even lost their lives due to the hot weather. Climate change used to be very far away from our lives, but after experiencing the extreme weather, I began to realize how serious climate change is. My idea for this art piece is to show the importance of ocean protection through an imagined dystopia future where water has become a scarce resource on Earth. By using the exaggeration of the amount and complexity of production lines, I aim to show the oppression of extreme weather and the morbid lifestyle people are experiencing due to the lack of water resources. The repeated elements of water emphasize the importance of water resources. Moreover, I applied medical elements such as the operation instrument and injectors to indicate the morbidity of such a living condition. Overall, I wanted to create a stressful atmosphere in my work to alert the audience to the seriousness of climate change. Water is not known as the source of life for nothing. People rely on water supply in almost every aspect of life. Hence, we must understand and take action on climate change. If we could raise awareness through propaganda in a whole community such as my school community, we could motivate more people to join the action of saving resources. Thus, the collective power of a whole community could make greater changes for the whole human society.
