Reflection

My artwork illustrates how a boy discovered a game which predicts the future. Through the Binoculars, you can see a dark, gloomy world with many chopped – down trees which is the outcome of the human careless actions on the nature especially cutting trees for paper. In contrast, the area outside the binocular is full of greenery, showing a healthier world where people take care more of our Earth. The contrast of two different scenes really illustrates the two possible futures. If we all play our part of taking care of our earth – like not littering, using the public transport such as MRT instead of private cars, and more conscious on the bad actions we have done to our environment, we can keep our planet green and healthy. However, if we continue harming the environment, the world may become grey and lifeless. I used coloured pencils, acrylic paint, and markers. I chose coloured pencils because they blend nicely and create great textures, while the paint and markers help add detail and highlights to my artwork. Through exploring the contest theme, “Connections to Nature,” I learned that we all have a role to play in protecting our environment. My message to everyone viewing my artwork is: Every small action you take to help the planet matters. Together, we can make a difference.
