It’s a hot, sizzling, scorching day, and you begin to fan yourself while panting from the merciless heat. You begin to take off your jacket and use the sleeves of your shirt to wipe the beads of sweat dotted across your forehead. Imagine that - but you're a polar bear. And it’s the Arctic. During the making of my piece, I was inspired by humans’ reactions to the heat and what would happen if polar bears reacted the same way to climate change. By exploring the Contest theme, I learned about the greenhouse effect and rising sea levels. I used to believe that climate change was a problem that scientists or activists would solve for us, but as I learned more about the devastation and how fast climate change is occurring, I realized saving the Earth is meant for everyone.
