Reflection

I was inspired to make this short film after seeing a picture of an extremely skinny polar bear. The bear was so skinny that I was shocked it could continue living. Afterward, I began researching the impact global warming on polar bears. I decided to make a video about how polar bears' lives are changing because of climate change. To better contrast their lives with our daily lives and illustrate human indifference to this current problem, I split the screen in two, so that the polar bears and humans could appear on the screen at the same time. As I dove further into research and filmmaking, I began to reflect on myself and whether my daily actions, which have always seemed "moderate" and "sustainable" to me, contributed to our current climate crisis. This film helps audiences see how their daily activities impact animals, the Earth, and their futures, as well as those of their children and future generations. I had the means to put this video on the screen at the entrance of a big mall in Shenzhen, China.
