Reflection

My piece was inspired by my environment hero's history of care and admiration of nature. Her will to preserve and protect the future of forests was touching and I wanted to capture the difference she made. My message to viewers of my work is the difference one person can make in this world, and the two futures available to us. It's people like Sumarni who keep trying to make our Earth a happier and greener place for all future generations of humans, plants, and animals to enjoy. If we don't help and contribute to the cause, we are choosing the "other" future, made of destruction, danger, and chaos. In order to further preserve the rainforests and wildlife, doing simple things in my community such as using less electricity, especially as the seasons get hotter, can drastically lower the chances of fires and CO2 emissions. Sumarni has shown me to be optimistic, but also defensive about the future of our planet. She made me optimistic because she showed me that there are still people on Earth that actually care about the well-being of the environment.
