A Night with North Atlantic Right Whales
July 9, 2018East Boston, MA
Join Bow Seat Ocean Awareness Programs and CLF for a Night with North Atlantic Right Whales
At this family-friendly exhibition, you will feel what it’s like to encounter a right whale through life-size projections of iconic images by photojournalist Brian Skerry. Then join a conversation with Brian about North Atlantic right whales, the threats they face, and why they need your help now.
North Atlantic right whales are critically endangered – barely 440 are alive today. Those that remain often bear scars from ship strikes and entanglements in fishing gear.
Most of us will never get to see North Atlantic right whales up close. This one-night-only exhibition will give you a chance to experience them through Brian Skerry’s dramatic and beautiful photos. Projected at scale, Brian’s images offer a stark and moving contrast between North Atlantic right whales and their southern cousins – one species on the brink of extinction, the other slowly recovering.
You’ll also hear from Bow Seat Ocean Awareness Programs, who is partnering with Conservation Law Foundation to launch a special contest for young New England and Gulf of Maine artists, thinkers, and activists who are concerned about the future of our ocean – and the many creatures that depend on it.
