Bow Seat Artists at the Hopkinton Center for the Arts

Bow Seat is pleased to join Shared Habitat Earth in showcasing environmental art at the Hopkinton Center for the Arts. 23 student pieces from various Contest years will be displayed in the hallways and workshop spaces of HCA, which hosts a multitude of art-making and performance classes for youth. Bow Seat is running workshops in conjunction with the show to encourage close-looking and reflection of student art.
More About Bow Seat’s Ocean Awareness Contest:
Now in its 11th year, the annual Ocean Awareness Contest has engaged more than 24,000 middle and high schoolers from all 50 U.S. states and 133 countries in creative communication for our ocean. Students are invited to submit visual art, writing, poetry, spoken word, film, music, dance, and multimedia exploring critical conservation issues such as plastic pollution, fossil fuel extraction, biodiversity loss, and climate change, with a focus on humans’ roles as both problem-makers and solvers.

More About Shared Habitat Earth:
An exhibit series, and a call for action from over 30 Boston area artists – Shared Habitat Earth (SHE) suggests cross species respect, intercultural solidarity, and a shared sense of responsibility, and, in the face of enormous threats to our habitat, it calls for action. SHE is in contact with a number of local and national environmental organizations. We will not only donate a percentage of our art sales to them and provide them with opportunities to speak at our events, but also, and more importantly, we plan to cooperate with the more active organizations, and to encourage more effective networking and cooperation among them.
