Salem, MA

Bow Seat is honored to announce that the works of 10 Bow Seat student artists who participated in the 2020 Ocean Awareness Contest will be featured in the Peabody Essex Museum’s exhibition “Climate Action: Inspiring Change” from April 16, 2022 to July 30, 2023.

About Bow Seat’s Ocean Awareness Contest:

Now in its 11th year, the annual Ocean Awareness Contest has engaged more than 24,000 middle and high schoolers from all 50 U.S. states and 133 countries in creative communication for our blue planet. Students are invited to submit visual and performing arts, creative writing, film, and multimedia that explore critical conservation issues such as climate change, plastic pollution, endangered species, and water justice, with a focus on humans’ roles as both problem-makers and solvers. The 2020 Contest—Climate Hope: Transforming Crisis—challenged students to learn about the climate crisis and its impact on oceans; discover or imagine solutions at local, national, or global scales; and create work that explores hope in action.
