Mindful Nature
Mindful Nature aims to uplift mental well-being among youth through nature-based and art therapy. In the first quarter of the Fellowship program, they partnered with Gisambai Secondary School in Kenya. 2024 Fellows Joy, Arnold, and their team successfully engaged 121 students through workshops on mindfulness techniques and interactive sessions raising awareness about the crucial link between mental health and the environment, particularly in the school setting. One student participant shared, “The workshop came at just the right time. It helped me understand my feelings better during exam season.”
“One particular moment that truly stood out during the first quarter of the Fellowship program was the overwhelming sense of team spirit among our project members. Witnessing the dedication, passion, and collaborative efforts of each team member towards our shared goal was incredibly inspiring. Additionally, the warm and receptive welcome we received from Gisambai Secondary School reaffirmed our belief in the importance and potential impact of our project. Seeing the students actively engage with our workshop content, despite it being our first session, was truly gratifying and served as a powerful motivator for us to continue our efforts. Moreover, the unwavering support and guidance provided by our mentors, as well as the trust placed in us by Bow Seat, further fueled our determination to make a meaningful difference in our community. These moments of camaraderie, enthusiasm, and support have been instrumental in shaping our journey and reaffirming our commitment to our project’s mission.”
