Ajay is an ocean-climate communicator who strives to make ocean literacy and intersections more accessible. His connection to the ocean began on the shores of the Arabian Sea, where he spent most of his childhood observing the ever-changing tides and developing a deep interest in marine life. This early fascination grew into a passion for marine conservation and environmental storytelling.

Prior to Bow Seat, his work spanned policy awareness, environmental curriculum development, and youth advocacy with organizations like the National Geographic Society, World Ocean Day, The Ocean Foundation, The Nature Conservancy, and The Ocean Project. He has also served as the President of ThinkOcean Society, leading international initiatives in ocean awareness, policy advocacy, and marine ecosystem restoration.

He has been recognized as a High Seas Youth Ambassador, 29 for 29 Changemakers by the Canadian High Commission, listed in the NAAEE 30 Under 30 and the Youth Innovation Prize Winner by GEEP.

Ajay is a LeadNext fellow at The Asia Foundation and currently serves on the UN Ocean Decade’s Strategic Communications Advisory Panel. Outside of his work, he enjoys trekking and doodling. Learn more about him at www.ajaysawant.com.
