Giovanni Prete

Director of Communications

Giovanni Prete is a journalist, communicator, and artist based in Montréal, Canada. Raised between Italy and Greece, Giovanni brings an international perspective to everything he creates. For the past few years, he has worked with several global organisations, including the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and UNESCO , where he has helped shape stories that inspire action for people and the planet.

Growing up on a small Mediterranean island beside his grandfather, a former naval officer turned fisherman, Giovanni developed an early and abiding love for the sea. That love would later become a calling: he founded a youth-led volunteer group in Corfu dedicated to protecting the ocean, leading beach and underwater cleanups for over three years and representing his cause in major UN events across the globe, using storytelling to urge policy makers to safeguard the Mediterranean Sea.

Rooted in storytelling and driven by purpose, Giovanni’s work bridges art, communication, and environmental advocacy, illuminating the connections between humanity and the natural world.

He holds a Bachelor’s in English Literature with Honours from McGill University and the University of Leeds, a Master’s in History from University College London, and a Graduate Diploma in Journalism from McGill University. He is fluent in Greek, French, and Italian.
