Janavi Kramer

Janavi Kramer is an internationally recognised British artist, scientific illustrator and ocean storyteller whose work is deeply inspired by the marine world. Through delicate watercolours and intricate detail, her paintings offer a window into the world beneath the surface – capturing the beauty, movement and wonder of the ocean in hopes of inspiring curiosity, connection and empathy in those who experience it.

Known for her distinctive use of colour, texture and atmosphere, Janavi’s work is heavily shaped by her experiences underwater. As a qualified PADI Divemaster and PADI AmbassaDiver, diving has become central to both her creative process and perspective. Since beginning her diving journey in 2013, she has explored marine environments across the globe, drawing inspiration directly from encounters with wildlife and the ecosystems they inhabit.

Beyond celebrating the beauty of the ocean, Janavi’s work is rooted in storytelling and conservation. Through her paintings, educational content and collaborations, she aims to bridge the gap between art and ocean literacy – helping audiences connect more deeply with marine life and better understand the environmental challenges our oceans face.

At the heart of her practice is a desire to encourage people to slow down, look closer, and recognise both the fragility and importance of the underwater world. By fostering emotional connection through creativity, Janavi hopes to inspire greater appreciation and protection of the one thing we cannot live without – the ocean.
