Mary Buchinger

Mary Buchinger is the author of six full-length books of poetry, including There Is Only the Sacred and the Desecrated (2026, Lily Poetry Review Books, Paul Nemser Book Prize, Honorable Mention); The Book of Shores (2024, Lily Poetry Review Books; Permafrost Book Prize in Poetry finalist; Hillary Gravendyk Prize, semifinalist), Navigating the Reach (2023, Salmon Poetry, Massachusetts Book Award Honors), Virology (2022, Lily Poetry Review Books), einfühlung/in feeling (2018, Main Street Rag), and Aerialist (2015, Gold Wake; May Swenson Poetry Award finalist, The Journal /Wheeler Prize semifinalist and Perugia Press Prize semifinalist), and two chapbooks, /klaʊdz/(2021, Lily Poetry Review Books) and Roomful of Sparrows (2008, Finishing Line Press; New Women’s Voices Series semi-finalist). She has received the Elyse Wolf/Slate Roof Chapbook Prize, poetry awards from the New England Poetry Club and the Virginia Poetry Society, a Norton Island Residency, and over a dozen Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net nominations. Her poetry appears in AGNI, Laurel Review, Lincoln Review, Nimrod, On the Seawall, Plume, Salt Hill, Seneca Review, South Dakota Review, Sugar House Review, and elsewhere. She volunteered for Peace Corps in Ecuador, served on the New England Poetry Club board for many years, is a member of Slate Roof Press. Buchinger holds a doctorate in linguistics from Boston University and is Professor of Communication Studies and English at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Boston. www.MaryBuchinger.com
