Everything Goes With the Ocean

Reflection
The phenomena caused by climate change are not singular, but related to each other. Global warming has raised the temperature of the Earth, which melts glaciers, increasing the sea level and flooding lower regions and islands. Moreover, marine creatures will migrate as a result of the change in ocean water temperature. Like the spread of a virus, a chain of events will reach the whole world. I intended to depict these numerous phenomena in a single painting. I chose to depict islands in the shape of marine creatures, and their gradual submergence from top to bottom of the painting represent the rising sea level. I hoped to show through the image of islands losing their shape as the sea level rises, and the migration of sea creatures, that seemingly small events will snowball into an irreversible consequence in the future.
