A Disappearing City

Reflection
As a result of climate change, the severity of natural disasters such as droughts, hurricanes, and floods is exacerbated. These not only threaten the environment we live in, but also destroy the beauty of our world. Venice has the reputation of being born of water, beautiful because of water, and flourishing because of water, and has the laudatory title of being the "City of Water." However, the rising sea level caused by global warming will make Venice submerged in seawater in the future. I limned the buildings being half-submerged in the water in an attempt to alert the world of the vanishing beauty. Instead of portraying the ugly and depressing scenes usually associated with climate change, I depicted an exceptionally beautiful scene. A sense of irony is conveyed through how this beauty is in stark contrast to the harsh reality facing the city. I wanted to express to the extreme the last beauty of this city, and arouse the call for action to combat climate change in an unconventional method.
