Reflection
Climate change is an issue that has surfaced within the last few decades, but despite this, people have done little to counteract this issue. If we continue this course of action, climate change will become a perpetual problem and will ruin us before we can stop it from flooding our continents and destroying our homes. For this reason, I feel frustration along with fear of the disastrous consequences driven by the lack of actions. In my piece, the Statue of Liberty is drowning in a sea of garbage, depicting the issue of flooding coasts that ultimately is caused by global warming. New York is a large and populous city that acts as a center for many organizations and people. It also resides on the coast and is at risk of disappearing under the rising sea level. My recent visit to New York City inspired me to use the Statue of Liberty with the knowledge that it will cease to exist within mere centuries. Through this entry, I have learned about how devastating the effects of climate change are and the reasons to limit our consumption of fossil fuels. My hope is for my audience to see and act on my messages I have painted, and stop this global crisis.
