Climate Hero: Pharrell Williams, G-Star RAW
A world full of beauty for me
The sky the mountains the sea
The world has a balance of beauty and life
the flowers the trees and the stars in the sky
oh, oh, oh
So why can’t we see our weak society?
We’re falling from the choices that we bring.
The world is ours, we tend to its needs.
We need to see our own reality.
We found a hero named Pharrell Williams.
He made the bionic yarn
His threads came from plastic in the sea
He made the prettiest things
The garbage the plastic, the carbon, the air,
he understands we need to care.
So why can’t we see our weak society?
We’re falling from the choices that we bring.
The world is ours, we tend to its needs.
We need to see our own reality.
So find a way to care.
Reflection
When I found the Contest last year, I learned to become more careful about how I care for the earth. Last year when my friends heard my song, they were impressed by my talent. I have become inspired to show them how my skills have improved over the years. I have chosen the ukulele for my instrumental song because it reminds me of the beauties of the ocean. Throughout my experience of writing this song, I noticed a wonderful feeling of beauty and love through the melody. While I was experiencing these feelings, I noticed my message about my song. My message for my song is to see the struggles of the world and find a way to fix them. I decided to find a hero who noticed a problem and decided to make a change. His name is Pharrell Williams (Anyanwu). He partners with G-Star RAW to make recycled clothing. They take plastic from the sea and turn it into clothing. I feel strongly that the world will learn to adapt to his technology and save the ocean just like he did. I feel I can become like him by reusing plastic and other waste. Being a climate change hero is inspiring.
